Reporting and writing news inspires Nicole Barlik.

“I want people to be informed and know the truth,” the junior from Joliet West High School.

Nicole Barlik’s point of view of society explains who she is.

Being inquisitive and a risk taker, she’s ambitious to push herself in a positive path. Journalism consumes most of her time but makes up with her goal to change the world as being a journalist.

“The character trait that defines me is me being determined, if I waned to go get something done, I’ll go do it in a heartbeat,” she said.

Nicole Barlik is a determined and free spirited young lady who uses journalism to express her ideas to the world around her. Because of the First Amendment giving the freedom to speech, reporting and writing news inspires her.

“If I had the chance to interview a celebrity it would be Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton because I would want to get to know them,” she said.

Being inquisitive and a risk taker, she’s ambitious to push herself in a positive path. Journalism consumes most of her time but makes up with her goal to change the world as being a journalist.

With Journalism taking her interest as a developing student, Nicole has perspectives about life and her biggest influence which is her mother.

“My mother, because she went through a lot at my age. She was pregnant at my age, which makes me think. I can only imagine what she has went through.”

Taking her mother’s struggles as an adolescent builds Nicole’s determination to be better and focus on not leading down a bad path she will regret. But she’s 16 and has a lifetime ahead of her to keep up the success she has been achieving all of her life.

Living in Joliet, Illinois with both of her parents was hard and confusing for her because of the structure of where she lived that made it hard for her to figure out what school she attended. She could’ve attended a school closer to her house but unfortunately she didn’t.

Now she’s adjusted to it since she graduated from that school and can assist her 12-year-old sister Julia, who goes to that school now.

Despite Nicole not joining any extra curricular activities in school, her close friend, Mary Talarico thinks of her as being “very persistent”.

“When she wants to get something done, she gets it done right.” She said describing the working ethics of Nicole in school.

Nicole doesn’t have a lot of friends but Mary is one who speaks highly about her like a friend should do. “Nicole is extremely caring and is always supportive and can make anyone laugh when they are feeling down” she said.

Nicole likes to watch Greys Anatomy on Netlfix and tries to read but for some reason she never does it.

“Greys Anatomy is one of my favorites! But when I try to read, it never works out,” she said with sarcasm.

Her dedication and determination builds her self-esteem and her confidence. Nicole Barlik is an incredible woman with a bright future ahead of herself.
